You can set this to 1x (the default), 2x, 3x, or 4x. Juice (Turbo) mode - in the submenu of the options menu, the game has several very cool, and very interesting, options. In the other games, you can't even switch players at the quarters, only at the half if at all, much less manage injury! Stupid. it's a simple system, but interesting and I think it adds something to the game. You have to use this strategically, trying to have the best players on the court at the key quarters, with the least injury. In between every quarter, you can switch out your three players, benching the most injured player for that quarter. Injury ratings - players take damage when getting knocked down.
apart from all of Midway's other basketball games? Really though, the Genesis, SNES, and 32X versions are all fantastic.Īnyway, what are the things that set T.E. Whenever I get a 32X, that version's near the top of my list. On the Genesis and 32X, however, the game has music during the game.ĭespite that, I definitely prefer the SNES version of T.E., at least at the moment, because of the better graphics for one (the Genesis version definitely has the worst graphics of any home port aside from the handhelds), but also because I have a multitap for my SNES, but not my Genesis, and the game's one of the best 4-player 16-bit games there is. have no ingame music, only menu music and ingame sound effects. is my favorite Midway basketball game overall. It think it was a real mistake for them to remove most of them again in Hangtime and Showtime, and that's why T.E. basketball I have much less interest in), but NBA Jam is fantastic, and I loved all of the additions T.E. I've never had the slightest bit of interest into any 'realistic' basketball games (I like realistic baseball games, but I like that sport a lot. I love NBA Jam T.E., it's by far my favorite basketball game of all time. If you're going to go that far, might as well get the 3D Showtime: NBA on NBC. I do, however, agree that the N64 version is probably the best version of Hang Time, even though it felt a little last gen for that system.
on the SNES was my first console version of NBA JAM (had the game gear version of the original first, which actually has the best NBA JAM music) so I have more than enough experience to speak on the matter. I don't know where you get the SNES version has better music when there is never any playing during gameplay, only on the title screen. It may have more colors, but the gameplay is much slower/stiffer and not as true to the arcade. It's virtually arcade perfect aside from the cut-down lyrical music and commentary (cart space). The SNES version is NOT better than the Genesis version. The N64 port of Hang Time, with its easy 4-player access, is hands-down the best port of Hang Time, cartridge or CD. They play identical as well.Īs far as Hang Time goes, they play identically on the Genesis & SNES, but the SNES port has noticeably better graphics (better color, especially on the spectators which are indistinguishable in the Genesis port). Same sprite sizes, animations, crowds.you name it. Except for better color and sound quality (SNES), the SNES & Genesis ports of Jam & Jam T.E are near identical.
